The lemons

The lemons, a source of inspiration

A humble subject embodied by a luminous palette.

Intense yellows, almost solar, evoke joy, obviousness, and simplicity.

A refined trace of the everyday, a glimmer of ordinary presence.

A simple gesture

The theme of lemons emerged naturally: like a simple, joyful, fully embraced gesture.

A humble subject, without apparent complexity, yet one I wanted to fill with intensity.

Depicting a presence

The yellows are powerful, vibrant, almost raw.

Their contours are softened through the use of tarlatan, which blurs the edges, makes the material more tactile, more delicate.

I did not seek to tell a story.

Rather to depict a presence.

Something obvious, almost childish, and yet essential.

Painting lemons

may also mean remembering a simple, luminous world, within reach.
